Book Design
WITHIN HUMANS is a fictional book created using various Adobe programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. It is about the struggles of being human but feeling isolated and not understanding oneself to the point of not feeling human. The book design idea was created in my Introduction to Digital Media class.
The first page contains the book's front and back covers. The main theme was Kois, to represent human beings.
The first two pages contain the Table of Contents, which has all the information about the title and number of the chapters. Like the front and back covers, the book design will portray human beings using a koi fish theme. The illustration of the fish was created on Procreate and then transferred to Adobe Photoshop.
The third page contains the title page and the first chapter opener. The title page is a black-and-white version of the front cover. The first chapter opens with a koi fish to represent the beginning of the protagonist.
The fourth page contains the chapter openers of Chapter 2, Humans, and Chapter 3, Love Life. All illustrations were created in Adobe Illustrator, and each illustration relates to the theme of each Chapter. Each Chapter contains one element from the front cover.
The last two chapters are Chapter 4/ Between and Chapter 5/The End. The illustrations were created in Adobe Photoshop. We once again see elements from the front cover. Chapter 4 has the fish aspect, and Chapter 5 has the sea component. This was done to create a storyline with imagery.
The book's color palette uses colors related to the sea and the koi fish. Dark Green and Dark Cerulean represent the dark theme of the storyline.
